Social Work Support

*The social work support staff member will be unavailable from December 16th-January 13th but will resume hours on Tuesday, January 14th. Please ask other library staff members for assistance during this time.*

JCPL is now offering a confidential social work support service available on a weekly, walk-in basis at each of our Branches. JCPL's Social Work Support staff member is here to help through direct assistance and referrals to appropriate agencies and community resources. We will also connect you to JCPL's services as needed.

When you arrive at the Branch, please ask a JCPL staff member where to go for assistance.

We can offer direct assistance for:

  • Applying for low income housing
  • Rental assistance information
  • SNAP/EBT card applications
  • TANF applications
  • Social Security/Disability applications
  • Unemployment Claims
  • Employment assistance
  • Eviction help
  • School enrollment
  • FAFSA information
  • State ID/driver's license assistance
  • Birth Certificate
  • Veterans' benefits
  • Voter Registration
  • Knows American Sign Language (ASL)

We can offer referrals for:

  • Temporary shelter
  • Health insurance
  • Mental health assistance
  • Clinic referral
  • Substance use assistance
  • Food pantries
  • Legal aid
  • Child care and CCDF
  • Clothing/furniture pantries
  • Survivor resources

JCPL's Social Work Support CAN:

  • meet with you to discuss available services
  • assist in finding applications for services
  • assist in finding organizations with appropriate resources

JCPL's Social Work Support CANNOT:

  • provide clinical services or therapy
  • provide direct financial support
  • provide direct services outside of referrals
