Literacy Awareness Month and Welcoming Week 2024

JCPL and our Adult Leaning Center are celebrating Literacy Awareness Month! Our Adult Learning Center (ALC) offers free tutoring services to help residents improve their English language communication skills and prepare for many exams, including the High School Equivalency and citizenship tests. The ALC offers free online resources to help improve reading, writing and grammar.

We also have a variety of resources available for adults who need to improve their basic literacy skills. Tutoring sessions are personalized and based on individual challenges and goals. A dedicated group of volunteers and ALC staff deliver all of our services throughout the JCPL system. If you would like to become a tutor, no previous tutoring experience is needed. Contact the ALC here.

Welcoming Week 2024

Welcoming Week is an annual celebration and campaign organized by Welcoming America that encourages communities to be welcoming places for all residents, including immigrants. From September 13 to 22, the Adult Learning Center’s goal is to consciously help our neighbors feel seen, welcome and included in our community.
