Job Title: Inclusive Intern (High School) -- Temporary Part-Time

Do you love visiting your school Library? Have you thought of a career in Librarianship? Are you an energetic, enthusiastic, dedicated student who wants to help others read, learn and connect? Are you a passionate reader – familiar with the most popular teen books, pop culture, trends, and hot topics?
The Inclusive Internship Initiative is a learning program created to grow diversity in public librarianship. Through this program, JCPL is inviting high school-aged students from diverse backgrounds to experience working in public libraries. Interns will have the opportunity to assist in fulfilling the library’s mission of strengthening our community by connecting people, resources and experiences.
The Inclusive Internship will include:
- Collaborating on program planning
- Assisting with collection development
- Marketing the library to teens
- Gaining practical knowledge of a career in Librarianship
Qualifications:
Inclusive Interns must be enrolled in their junior or senior year of high school and commit to working 10-12 hours per week. A letter of recommendation from the school librarian or similar position is required. The intern must have reliable transportation to and from the library.
Internship Benefits:
This part-time internship is compensated at $11.00 per hour and may require some evening and weekend hours. The internship will last approximately 12 weeks. This internship opportunity is available during the school year.
